Sexism, amalgams, gender, representations of the female body, female condition and sexuality, struggles, emancipation, recuperations; so many themes, addressed here, to answer this question: what place for female rappers and women in rap in France? This book questions the place of women and women in French rap, by focusing on the different themes that affect their condition and emancipation and then giving voice to the actresses of the rap scene, by highlighting their works and careers. It will be about the pioneers - present from the birth of the genre and evacuated at the time of its golden age -, the pillars that are Diam's, Casey and Keny Arkana, each representing a facet of the female rapper, and the contemporaries, increasingly numerous, for whom the urgency is in the emancipation of women and is felt in their lyrics and attitude. The author explains the linguistic and musical specificities of rap and dismantles the clichés aimed at extracting it from a French-speaking musical culture.
